Case n° 840/19: N.C. v. High Court of Justice and Cassation in Romania

On March 4, 2021, in case 840/19, Mr. Thuan Dit Dieudonné pleaded before the Grand Chamber of the CJEU (Court of Justice of the European Union) for the interests of N.C., in the context of a preliminary question asked by the Romanian High Court of Justice and Cassation.

This case concerns the alleged lack of independence of the Romanian Court of Cassation vis-à-vis the Romanian Constitutional Court, and the position of the European Commission on the evaluation process of the rule of law in Romania.
